In fact, Isla was deeply in love with Rick, but having learned that her husband had not been killed by the Germans when he tried to escape from a concentration camp, as she had originally thought, she quickly left Rick’s side in Paris, to be by her husband’s bed side. Her loyalty to her marriage and her cause kept her from finding true happiness and love with Rick.

Turner was famously discovered at Schwab’s Drug Store and has become one of Hollywood’s most alluring show-business risen to fame legends. The truth differs only a bit from the legend.
